Christmas Goodies

I hope all of you had a wonderful Christmas! I know I did. We had just a quite day at home. I read my new books over, and over again. :) And gazed at my new sewing patterns trying to find supplies to make them - and I did. The blessings of having a huge stash. :) I just need to buy boning and zippers.

1. Blueprints of Fashion 1940s & 1950s
2. Vintage Hairstyling
3. Costume Close-Up
4. Costume in Detail
5. Summer Shade Jumper (Marie-Madeline Studio)
6. Ladies' 1780s Portrait Dress Pattern (Sense & Sensibility Patterns)
7. Mint Chocolate Bar
8. 3 Pairs of Earrings (one pair I will be returning)
9. Bracelet (made by my sister, Hanne-col)
10. Gluten-Free Candy Canes
11. Snowman Brooch

One of my new tea cups from Starbucks. I LOVE them!

             1. Necklace made by my sister, Hanne-col.         2. Robe

And on Christmas Eve the Astaire & Rogers DVDs I won arrived in the mail! It was like receiving another Christmas present. I've already watched Shall We Dance and Follow the Fleet.

So how was your Christmas? Right now, I'm making two 1780s dresses. One will be made out a white on white cotton fabric for a day dress. While the other one, will be made out the leftover fabric from my formal for a ball gown. :)  Also I can't wait to buy supplies to fix my hair in vintage styles - mostly 50s & 60s. :)

I ♥ Thursday {no. 3}

I just realized that today was Thursday and not Friday. Silly me. Meaning it's time for I ♥ Thursday! :)

I love this bundle of fabric that I bought last night @ Marie-Madeline Studio! I can't wait for it to come in the mail. :)

I'm excited to receive these five Astaire & Rogers movies in the mail sometime soon from a giveaway I won. These will be the first five Astaire & Rogers films that I have ever watched. But I love dancing, so I should enjoy them!

I LOVE this picture!!! The hair. The DRESS! Oh my! It's polka-doted AND has a Peter Pan collar! It's making me want to dress 1940s tomorrow. Umm, maybe I will. First I'll have to go set my hair tonight. :)

This darling little puppy is so cute! :)

Pocket watches. I would love to own one - someday.

Roman Holiday.

Hot Chocolate with Whip Cream. Yum.

This darling hat @ Molly on the Rock's.

And finally, this beautiful necklace from Autumn Art.

So, what are your favorites for this week?

Old Hollywood Inspired Jeans

I struggle with finding jeans that fit and are not too tight, nor too loose. I had told myself several times that I should try sewing my own jeans, but got scared! :p Then a couple weeks ago, I decided that I wasn't going to be afraid anymore.

I knew that I wanted jeans that had a Old Hollywood feel to them. Like my inspiration below:

Ginger Rogers Hollywood Pattern

Off to Jo-Ann's I went looking for the perfect pattern, or at least one I could adapt. And lo, and behold, I found the perfect one! With no adaption, Simplicity 3686 would work like a charm for my brand new jeans, which would have that Old Hollywood feel.

Pattern Description: Misses pants with slim & wide leg.

Pattern Sizing: I cut a size 10 (used it as is)

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes!

Were the instructions easy to follow? When I was doing the mock-up I ran into trouble! I COULD NOT sew the pant legs correctly! It took five tries and a week before I got it right! But, once I was working with the jean it went together like a dream!

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love this pattern, super cute and stylish! It has that 1930s/1940s Old Hollywood feel to it!

Fabric Used: A nice denim from Joann's.

Pattern Alterations or any design changes you made: Nope. Next time I would shorten the length just a tad, as the legs are a little long. :-)

Would you sew it again? Yes!

Would you recommend it to others? Sure, they are so cute!
